About Redhawk Native American Arts Council

The Redhawk Native American Arts Council is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to sharing Indigenous American heritage through dynamic artistic and educational programming serving the Brooklyn, NY community and the broader tri-state region. Since 1994, Redhawk has provided comprehensive services including cultural performances, educational workshops, and diversity awareness programs for schools, corporations, and government agencies nationwide. The organization contracts Indigenous artists, performers, and educators to deliver performances and lectures that authentically represent North, South, and Central American, Caribbean, and Polynesian Indigenous cultures. Redhawk's educational programs serve students from pre-kindergarten through university level, helping educators and students gain deeper understanding of Indigenous American history while addressing outdated curriculum and cultural stereotypes. The council produces four of the largest Indigenous heritage celebrations in the Northeast, featuring over 1,000 Indigenous artists, performers, and educators. Beyond festival productions, Redhawk offers specialized programming addressing contemporary issues including climate change, water rights, land preservation, and Indigenous stereotypes through an Indigenous-centered lens. The organization also hosts keynote speakers and creates customized diversity awareness initiatives for corporations and government agencies. With performers who have appeared from Radio City Music Hall to international venues in Hong Kong and China, Redhawk combines traditional dances and stories with contemporary presentation styles that resonate with audiences globally. All programming emphasizes both historical context and contemporary Indigenous cultural practices, making Redhawk a vital resource for authentic Indigenous arts education and community engagement in Brooklyn and beyond.
