Tribal In-house Counsel Association

The Tribal In-house Counsel Association (TICA) is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization based in Tucson, Arizona, dedicated to serving attorneys who provide legal services directly to Tribes and Tribal Governments. Since its founding in 2012, TICA has established itself as the premier professional resource for in-house tribal legal practitioners, addressing the unique and specialized needs of lawyers employed directly by Tribal Governments, Tribal Enterprises, and similar entities. While numerous legal associations serve tribal practitioners broadly, TICA distinguishes itself by focusing exclusively on issues and practices specific to the in-house counsel model that has become increasingly essential for tribal governance and cost-effective legal operations. TICA connects members through a comprehensive forum and community dedicated to Tribal Government legal issues, providing resources, networking opportunities, and professional development tailored to the distinctive challenges facing in-house tribal counsel. The organization specializes in government law and tribal legal matters, offering members access to extensive continuing legal education resources, including a CLE Library with over 60 hours of self-study credit content dating back to 2018. TICA hosts an annual conference bringing together tribal legal professionals from across the country, and maintains an active job announcement board for career opportunities within tribal legal departments.
