Upper Columbia United Tribes

Upper Columbia United Tribes (UCUT) serves the Spokane, WA region as a collaborative organization dedicated to natural resource management and tribal sovereignty. Operating since 1982, UCUT provides a unified voice for five sovereign nations: the Coeur d'Alene Tribe, the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, the Kalispel Tribe of Indians, the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, and the Spokane Tribe of Indians. Through science-based approaches and structured coordination, UCUT manages and influences nearly two million acres of reservation land while stewarding at least 14 million acres of aboriginal territories across the Upper Columbia River region. The organization's comprehensive resource management encompasses 500 miles of waterways, 40 interior lakes, and oversight of 30 dams and reservoirs. UCUT specializes in the protection, preservation, and enhancement of fish populations, water quality, wildlife habitat, and diverse ecosystems throughout the Northwest. The organization works to advance Treaty and Executive Order Rights while maintaining cultural traditions and addressing issues of common concern across member territories.
